CityBus Launches CityVan Rideshare Program at WeCare Recovery Home
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: CityBus Launches CityVan Rideshare Program at WeCare Recovery Home to Support Workforce Stability in Clinton County
Frankfort, Indiana – CityBus, in partnership with Purdue University’s College & Community Collaboration (CCC) Initiative and WeCare Recovery Home, has launched a new CityVan vanpool rideshare program in Clinton County to improve access to employment and support long-term workforce stability. The program is designed to reduce transportation barriers for employees who may face challenges such as limited access to reliable vehicles, lack of a driver’s license, or financial constraints.
CityVan is a subsidized vanpool program that connects employees to reliable transportation to and from work. Each vanpool is coordinated by a designated employee driver and meets riders at a central location before traveling to the worksite. Through CCC funds awarded by Lilly Endowment Inc. and CityBus subsidies, the cost of the vehicle is fully covered, leaving participating riders responsible only for fuel expenses. This model makes dependable transportation more affordable while supporting employee retention and operational consistency for participating employers.
WeCare Recovery Home is the latest organization to join the CityVan program, aligning with its mission to promote recovery, stability, and self-sufficiency for individuals in Clinton County. Transportation access is a critical component of employment success, particularly for individuals working to rebuild their lives through recovery and reentry into the workforce. By launching CityVan at WeCare, the program directly supports employees’ ability to maintain consistent employment and progress toward long-term personal and professional goals.
“Transportation is a critical piece of WeCare’s operations,” said Jeff Stafford, Executive Director of WeCare Recovery Home. “Before the holidays, our second van gave out, and we weren’t sure what we were going to do. By the grace of God, the CityBus Vanpool opportunity presented itself, and now we are able to transport our residents to their employment opportunities all over Clinton County.”
The Clinton County vanpool reflects CityVan’s broader regional goal of expanding access to employment across the Wabash Heartland. By partnering with employers and community organizations, CityBus and CCC aim to ensure that transportation is not an obstacle to opportunity, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
