Impact Stories - Christy

It is truly only by the grace of God that I am here today. For nearly fifteen years, I battled addiction — making choices I am not proud of and putting myself in situations I never imagined I would survive. Addiction stole my peace, my identity, and my hope, and for a long time, I believed that was all my life would ever be.

I tried to fix myself in my own strength, but nothing ever lasted. I was broken, exhausted, and desperate for change, yet I didn’t know how to escape the cycle I was trapped in. Addiction had convinced me that I was beyond redemption.

When I came to WeCare Recovery Home, everything began to shift. Here, I encountered something I had never experienced before — accountability wrapped in grace, truth spoken in love, and a community rooted firmly in Christ. Through this program, God began healing not only my addiction, but my heart.

At WeCare, I learned how to surrender my life fully to God, to confront my past, and to rebuild my future on a firm foundation. I learned discipline, responsibility, and what it truly means to live in freedom. Most importantly, I learned who I am in Christ.

After graduating the program in Oct. 2024, I lived in the Renewal House (transition house) for a little more than a year. I have been employed full time at Wabash Center, where we serve individuals with special needs, for nearly 2.5 years now.

Today, I am no longer defined by my past. I am walking in restoration — spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. God has given me a new heart, renewed purpose, and a future filled with hope.

WeCare Recovery Home is more than a program — it is a place where lives are transformed, families are restored, and faith is rebuilt. I am living proof that recovery is possible and that God is still in the business of making all things new.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17
